When you have already chatted with your potential date online for some time, how long do you think should you wait until meeting in real life? Actually, there is no rule, but it’s good to know what the rule of thumb is you know what everyone else is doing.
Meeting In Real Life Usually Happens In A Month
A study aimed to identify how long online daters usually waited before meeting their potential partner in real life. There were about 1, 045 participants. 19% of them met their match on the same day. 18% said that they usually waited for a week. However, the most significant percentage of all (46%) said that they waited for a month before meeting in real life.
Why Is A Month Ideal?
Realistically speaking, a month would be enough time to get to know a person. Of course, this “getting to know” stage won’t be enough. Two people usually feel like meeting in real life would be the key for them to get to know each other more.
The truth, however, is that you should meet your online date whenever you feel ready. You can follow the “one-month” rule, or you can totally wait for another month to make it two. It is totally up to you. You might even wait longer when the person you met online is in another country.
How To Be Smooth About It
If you think that you are ready to meet the person in real life, then you have to be smooth about it. About a week before your one-month mark, start dropping hints. Say sentences like, “It would really be nice if we were together right now.” Or, you can even be playful and ask questions like, “What would we be doing if we were together right now?”
So, why drop hints? You don’t have to if you don’t want to. But, it’s like building the momentum. As soon as you announce that your desire to meet in real life, your online date will be more than thrilled. For more online dating and relationship tips, read other posts on the blog.
