Have you heard about the dating trend called zombieing? No, it doesn’t mean staying up all night watching back-to-back episodes of “The Walking Dead”, but we do say it’s appropriate because it’s the time of Halloween. Otherwise there is nothing appropriate about it. If you’ve been a victim of it, you may wish it did, though.
From Ghosting To Zombieing – Keep Up With The Dating Trend
There has probably never been a time when dating was as interesting as it is now. With so many dating options and the stellar rise of online dating, it can be a struggle keeping up with all the latest terms. Fear not, though. We are here to help.
Have you ever been in a situation where you were communicating with a lady you’d met online and felt things were going great, only to have her disappear out of the blue, without any kind of excuse or explanation? If so, you’ve been ghosted.
You wonder what might have happened. Is it something you said? Did you put too many exclamation marks on that last “Good morning” text message you sent? Has she been run over by a car? Has she been robbed of all electronic devices and can’t find a way to reach you? Has she been abducted by aliens? You are willing to believe anything because nothing really makes sense. The only way to deal with it is to think they are dead. Yes. That would explain it.
The spin on ghosting comes when suddenly (again) after quite some time has passed, you get a message or phone call from that same person. This is when you have been zombied (because it’s like she’s come back from the dead, get it?).
Why It Happens And What To Do If It Happens To You
There is no nice way to say this. Zombieing means that the person you were communicating with was probably too busy talking to others to get back to you. Then, when she found herself waiting for the bus/ standing in the supermarket line/ feeling insomniac, she ran through her past contacts list and realized she’s ghosted you.
We don’t like dictating people what to do, but let’s just say ghosting is bad enough, but zombieing is even worse. The former means that she didn’t bother reply to you, but the latter is a sign she has no shame and takes you for granted. It’s up to you if you want to respond to that sort of person. We’d rather watch an episode of “The Walking Dead” instead, though.
