Being nervous on a first date is normal. You wouldn’t want to mess anything up, and, of course, you would like to make the best first impression. However, after all the first dates you’ve been on, have you ever noticed a pattern? More specifically, have you noticed how women behave on first dates?
What A Survey Says About Being Nervous On A First Date
A dating website set up a survey for their members online. The survey included question that asked about how confident a participant is when on a first date. Another question was if the participant felt that he or she held the deciding power on whether a second date was possible or not. The results might surprise you.
Men Make The First Move, But Women Have The Power
As you may have guessed, women were found to be less nervous on a first date. 82% of the women that participated in the survey said that they believe they can make a good first impression. On the other hand, only about 70% of the male participants said that they felt the same way.
Furthermore, an astounding 71% of the female participants said that they usually were the ones that made the decision about whether a second date is to happen. While, for the men, only 46% had a similar answer.
Why Is This So?
According to a psychologist, Dr Wiebke Neberich, men usually initiate the date. However, men don’t always get a “yes” from the women they ask because they overestimate a woman’s interest. As a result, men experience more rejection, and that could affect their confidence when on dates.
In addition, women are generally picky when it comes to choosing their mate. A woman’s decision can be affected by biological or sociological factors.
What Does This Mean For You?
Now that you know what the results of the survey are, how can this knowledge contribute to your dating life? This is a good question. There are a couple of things you need to remember:
- Rejection is something that’s normal for men and women. You have to find a way to deal with it in a positive way.
- You have to be better at telling whether a woman is into you or not. We have a few articles on the blog that can help.
- Work on your confidence. Don’t be part of the male percentages on the survey.
